On blogging

I have been blogging ever since I don't remember and I think 

I have said a lot of times that this is my personal online journal. 

I used to enjoy posting and reading this blog just by myself, 

but then I got inspired by a friend of mine who started blogging too 

and told me to share it to more people. 

I also stated before (although I deleted it since some might find it offensive) 

on my profile that I blog to express and not to impress. 

The main reason I used to blog a bit discretely. 

So I am not sure if anyone noticed, I do not post brand names of the clothes, 

etc I wear most of the time because I find it unhelpful. 

For me, fashion and style is not about the brand you wear. 

It is about looking and feeling good through what you wear. 

You could just find something that is similar or better 

that works for you and your pocket if you find my posts nice. 

Well that is the fun in dressing up! 

Searching for that something that you could say, "this is it!" :p

Although I say there are bragging rights if you finally 

bought that dream signature bag or shoes! Lol.

So, yeah, I blog for myself and not for anything else. 

I just want to record and share my simple joys, inspirations, 

my random thoughts and my rants through blogging.

Fairy nails

Here's another gradient nails using pearl and glittery nail polishes. 

I used a pearl milky peach, lavender and a blue glitter polish this time.

Just paint pearl peach on the whole nails - half with lavender - whole with pearl again
- double coat the tips with blue glitter - then apply top coat. :)

Okay, did I sound very much lazy on this post? Sorry. LOL ;P

Annular Solar Eclipse

I was awake early in the morning yesterday to see the annular solar eclipse.

I tried to take a picture of it wishing I had the proper gadgets for it. 

And also wishing that my mind was working properly in the morning

to think of some unique ways to capture the moment. :P

Exotic

It is very seldom that I wear dark make up at work 

because my eyes get irritated easily and I hate that they are hard to wash off. 

So when I wore a dark make up to work yesterday, 

my co-worker said I looked exotic! Haha.

So anyway, here's my look yesterday.

Just mixed black, gray, lavender, and pink eyeshadows from the lids upwards 

then added purple on the tail.

My outfit are just mix and matches of my past outfits.

Lazy witch

Here's what I wore on a lazy bad hair day like today. 

Nothing special about the outfit, but hey, I blog for my own satisfaction anyway! ;p

I just actually feel like pairing blue, gray and white whenever I wear my crescent moon necklace, 

thus the witchy image for me. Also added the cheap bracelets I bought at the asian store near our shop to the watch I bought years ago from our company trip. I also wanted to wear boots to work today since the forecast said it's going to rain, but the ended without me feeling a single drop. Lol!

Cream Cabbage Roll Recipe

It is my first time to make a cabbage roll from scratch

but I'm glad it turned out pretty well and it wasn't even as hard as I expected!

You'll need: chopped onions, minced meat, bread crumbs, 

egg, cabbage, water, milk, cream, broth powder, salt and pepper.

The steps: Mix (and knead) the onions, minced meat, egg, bread crumbs, water/milk and salt.

Steam the cabbage leaves for about 5-10 mins and cut the core.

Make an oblong shaped dumpling and roll with the cabbage (like how you do a spring roll).

Put the cabbage rolls in a casserole and add water, broth and cream.

Simmer for about 30 minutes (I added wiener sausages last minute for color presentation. ;p).

Add salt and pepper to taste.

On being a Mom

I've read a quote on the internet saying something like this..

"Motherhood is learning about strenghts you didn't know you had, and dealing with fears you didn't know existed."

When my daughter was conceived, although we had planned about this for a year, I did not have the confidence if I could be a perfect mom. Now she is already going to be 3 years old this December and I am still not confident if I am doing things right.
You see, at her age she is still not talking like those kids her age and her doctor said she is delayed by more than 6 months. The moment I noticed and knew, I became so worried and feared what if my child has a disorder.. Maybe it has been my fault.. the things I did or did not do.. If only this and that.. But then I realized, this was the moment to be a real mother to my daughter. I would try to do the things that will help her, yet if the day came that she will be diagnosed of having a disorder, then I will be here and support her until she needs me.
I may make mistakes along the way, but God knows I live for my daughter's happiness and safety. I could not be a perfect mom but I can be a good mom.

Who could resist that cute smile anyways? Haha! Now I am just currently enjoying playing and communicating with her with ways that only the two (sometimes four including her lolo and daddy) of us knows. :)

My Omerice Recipe

Today, I am sharing my Omerice Recipe!

Ingredients: rice, chicken breasts cut into cubes, onions, seasoning sauce (konbu tsuyu), 

tomato catsup, butter, eggs, cheese and salt.

Steps: Saute onion and chicken on a heated pan in cooking oil. 

Add about 3 tbsp of seasoning sauce. 

(try a normal soy sauce plus broth powder if you don't have one)

Add rice and catsup when the onions and chicken are cooked.

Mix well and add salt to taste.

: Beat the eggs and sprinkle salt to taste.

Spread rice on plate and top with cheese.

Melt butter on small pan.

Fry the eggs. (I prefer it to be a bit half cooked)

: Put the omelet on top of the catsup rice and decorate! 

(Yep, I just top the omelet on since I find it hard to keep the eggs half cooked if I wrap the rice :p)

I decided to draw a heart. ;)

Harry Potter is coming to Japan!

Being a Harry Potter fan, I was so excited when I learned that Universal Studios Japan will bring the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Japan. I was even dreaming of going to Orlando just because of this! Haha. It is said to be the same as the one in Orlando, including the Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade. I never expected this to happen!

different kind of gradient nails

I have read a lot of techniques on how to do the gradient nails, I tried two sponge techniques from the nailsaurus.com and the beautydepartment.com since it looked so easy to do, but none of them worked for me and maybe the type of nails polishes I have. So I tried a technique that I knew a long time ago. 

1. Make a french nail using a pearl/glazed base and another color.

 I used pearl gold and yellow. Wait for it to completely dry.

2. Paint the glittery polish(mine is color red-orange) to more than half 

of your nails and paint your whole nails again with the pearl polish. 

3. Paint another coat of the glittery polish on where the yellow coat is 

to enhance the color on the tips. 

4. Paint the whole nail again with pearl polish and add a top coat.

And you're done! 

It does need extra time to paint and dry but for me, I think it is much easier than the sponge techniques. Pearl and glittery polishes are the way to go for gradient nails if the sponge technique doesn't work you!   Oh, and it is "different" because I tried painting the 2nd lighter color (yellow) on the tips rather than the usual gradually painting it lighter to darker. :)

Are we compatible?

I am into sun signs. I actually ask the person's sign and his birthdate just right on the first day we meet especially at work. It helps me analyze their characters so that I'd know how they basically think and I'd know how to treat them. I read about other signs' compatibility to mine (aries) so I thought of posting it here.

Aries- Aries  Representing the infant, this first sign of the Zodiac has under it, people who are born intrepid fighters. Privacy is of utmost importance to Arians and they always try to protect their identity. Charged up with energy Aries people stinulate their tasks by their inner power. People born under Aries are extrovert and straightforward in their personal relationships. Being prone to hurt others, Arians are also not slow in forgetting and forgiving. Arians make fastidious and passionate lovers. 
 
-Taurus  An Arian is always in haste and a Taurean takes his own time to understand a situation in depth. The Aries individual falters frequently and his Taurus counterpart reacts with "I told you so" attitude. This can act as a spanner in the works as far as the love compatibility between both the signs is concerned. To make this relationship work well each one of the duo has to respect the viewpoint of the other.

Pink Jeans

This pink jeans is certainly my favorite bottom this spring/summer. It adds some spice to a simple outfit without excerting too much effort! Haha. Some people think colored jeans are hard to pair up, but it really is not. I paired it with a dungaree shirt at the photo below.

To those who wants to try a colored pair of jeans but does know what color to choose would be, try the neutral colors like light gray or taupe first.. or maybe blue since usual denims are color blue/indigo, then pair it with a simple tee.

This was taken on the day we went out after my work this golden week. I paired it with a simple white shirt tunic and a coral and turquoise printed stole to add color.
See that I am always doing my "advice" on my last outfit post. ;)

Strawberry refrigerator cake

It is my first time making a refrigerator cake. 

I've been wanting to make one but there are no thin graham crackers sold in most of the markets here, so when I received one from a friend, I made it as soon as I had the chance! 

You'll need: graham crackers, fresh cream, condensed milk, 

strawberry jam, and square/rectangular container with cover.

Steps: Mix the fresh cream and condensed milk into a bowl. My ratio is 3:1. 

Line up the crackers onto the container, add the jam and then the milk mixture.

Add the process to make layers.

Put in the refrigerator for about 12 hours.

Top with graham crumbs when serving!

12 days left

Every month, I have this what everyone calls as "PMS". 

And as everyone knows, it is short for Pre Menstrual Syndrome.

: A varied group of physical and psychological symptoms, including abdominal bloating, breast tenderness, headache, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, and depression, that occur from 2 to 7 days before the onset of menstruation and cease shortly after menses begins.

I think most people feel this syndrome when their period is about a week near.

But in my case, whenever I feel easily irritated, restless and stressed followed by being depressed, I check my menstrual calendar, and then I see this.

Yes. Every month. 12 days. Like today.

So whenever I rant here on my blog/etc about something, just think that maybe I am PMSing. Haha!

Good news is, after my PMSing days comes my so called "inspired days". 

Those are the days that I see enlightening messages everywhere and I am unusually friendly. ;p
