My Chicken Teriyaki Recipe

A lot of people have asked me how to cook Teriyaki, and it is actually just easy to make.
I think this is one of the first recipes I learned.. The first one being Adobo. Hehe

So here is my version of Chicken Teriyaki.

Did you know that the work "teri" means glaze/shine and the work "yaki" means to fry/broil/grill? :)

You'll need: chicken legs/thighs, salt, 1tsp of garlic, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of mirin (you could use white wine instead if you don't have any), 1/4 cup of water, 1tbsp of honey (add 1 or 2 tbsp of sugar if using white wine).

Steps: 1. cut open the middle part of the chicken just on top of the bone, and pierce the entire chicken like a mad woman. LOL :p (you wouldn't need this step if you're using a boneless chicken)
2. put salt and garlic then set aside.
3. fry each side of the chicken for about 3 minutes, just until it is slightly brown. (I prefer to not put oil since there would a lot of oil coming from the chicken)
4. Add all the other ingredients and simmer for about 20 minutes and let the sauce dry to make it glaze while turning over the chicken once in a while for about 5-10 minutes.

There you go! Try it! :)
